How To: Make Your Own Nail Decals!

I know I used to spend a lot of money buying nail decals to spruce up my every day manicure. But! I've found a way to make your own nail decals. It's super easy and inexpensive, you probably have all the supplies already!

You'll need...
  • thick plastic (I used a Ziploc bag)
  • different colored nail polishes
  • dotting tools/nail pens/thin brushes

I used Migi Nail pens, LA Color Art Deco nail stripers, and a Ziploc bag.

To start out, stretch your plastic taut over a flat surface. Take your nail polish (in this picture I used LA Color Art Deco - Intense Pink) and create shapes. Since it's Valentine's time, I made lots of hearts.

Here, I used a red Migi Nail Art pen to make more hearts/bows or whatever. This takes practice, but try to make them around the same size.
Let them dry, then bend the plastic & they will flake right off! Just press onto your nail, topcoat, and you're done!

Mardi Gras nails

So, I was on the phone the other day and had asked one of my friends how I should paint my nails. He, being from Louisiana, promptly said "Mardi Gras!"

Thus, the Mardi Gras manicure was born. Hope you like it!
So, here are the products I used. Migi Nail Art Pen (Black), Cutex Color Quick (Gold), Sally Hansen Beyond Perfect (White Dove), NYC Nail Color (Purple Pizazz Frost), OPI Nail Envy (Original) & L.A. Colors Art Deco (Green Glitter).

So, first, I used OPI Nail Envy Original for my base, then Sally Hansen Beyond Perfect nail color in White Dove as the base color.

This is actually really pretty despite it being so sheer. In some lights it looks white, but here you can see the turquoise duochrome effect it can give off.
Then I took Cutex Color Quick in the gold shade (don't know the name, it's not on the bottle) and applied it in two angled stripes across the tip of my nail like a French manicure.
After that was fully dry, I took LA Color Art Deco striping polish in Green Glitter and applied it along the edge of the gold like above.
Now my nails looked like this. Sorry for the burn on my middle finger, the skillet and I got into an argument... He won.
After the green was dry, I took NYC Purple Pizazz Frost nail polish on a thin striping brush and swept it across my nail along the other edge of gold like this. I really like this NYC polish because it was opaque really easily in this thin stripe, plus it has a blue-ish duochome that mimics the base polish.
Next, I took a black Migi Nail Art pen & dotted along the edges of the purple & green to resemble beads.
Then I just applied Seche Vite top coat & that's it! I really hope you guys like this! It was so fun, probably one of my favorite manicures ever!

Hell-oh world!

I've never been into the whole "blogging" scene. I always thought it was for old women to rant about pro-choice controversies. But today I decided I'd finally sit down to try it out.

I'm an artistic person, I'm also nerdy and quite thrifty. Combine the three and you have the cutest crafts in the entire world! (In my opinion anyway!)
I'm absolutely in love with hair accessories at the moment. Specifically 80s hair combs! I've been gluing anything to them. Felt flowers, bows, buttons, pearls, anything!
I'll have to take pictures tomorrow & put an entire post on just that.

Well, first day done, this whole blog thing isn't that hard!
